Quick note on Canute: a correction
Got a couple of stories mixed.
Canute was the guy who, to demonstrate that Kings did not have total power, ordered the ocean not to wet his shoes. The waters ignored him.
Kings may not order oceans, but they have a better shot at getting good new shoes when the old ones are wrecked.

Anyway, the comparison stands:
there are a lot of people who believe that the internet is a good way to distribute music, movies, etc., and the actions of some arrogant executives are not going to hold them back.
