SOA is a natural progression
SOA is a natural parallel to real life. We spend a lot of time and effort building interfaces to go hand in glove to real life situations and best practise is to structure products and components that mimick real life interactions. SOA therefore is a natural progression.

It will allow us to automate many more processes in the B2B space, effectively reducing the need for a person to be the middle man inputting single transactions through a browser. It will allow is to set up well thought out, re-usable protocols for interacting with our existing and new systems, and is a great vehicle to go the next logical leg of the journey towards true information and knowledge transfer efficiencies.

When a company or department publishes their web services it says to the rest of the world - here is how you should deal with me for me to provide you with the service you want. It has many parallels with the real world, which has elvolved to a high level of organisation over a lot longer period than programming languages.

Bring it on!
