I think what he's saying...
...is that coders will choose which GPL they want to recognize as being valid, and one branch will eventually dominate the others.

I myself have little doubt that someone in the "new and improved GPL" camp is on the take. What better way to undermine open source than to make cooperation between contributors next to impossible?
