It would definitely have to be different
...I can guarantee you is it will have nothing to do with exchange and it's crappy information store.

I think that goes without saying. One of the more unfortunate tasks I have at my job is adminstering an Exchange server.

If they really do plan on trying something on this scale, I would agree that they will have had to come up with some pretty ingenious backend programming to keep everything humming.

Perhaps the all of the data is kept in some sort of transactional datatbase format, enabling easier management of the data - and of course, easy searching.
