You can too charge for the code; but you can't hide the source or restrict redistribution, except as specified by the GPL. Mind you, since the code is freely available, you're not likely to get very much for it (as open source critics sometimes point out), but you can charge whatever you think the market will bear. This is why it's legal to sell CDs of GPLed software, which is what Linux distributors have been doing for years.
