Effective Ads
It seems to me that the way companies can maximize money from ads, is by giving ads high entertainment value, then pitching their products gently at the end ? for just a few seconds. A hyperlink can then take the user fully into the product the advertiser is trying to pitch. In other words, very effective ads seduce the user by using something he or she likes (e.g. comedic video or animation), then carefully lead him / her in the direction the advertiser wants to take him / her. The problem with many ads on TV is that they offer very little entertainment value, and they just saturate the user with information about their products. People resent this. You have to give people something of value to them, before they will be inclined to voluntarily reciprocate their attention.
