Doesn't take rocket science
That doesn't make any sense. I mean, how would anyone know the outcome until the study took place? And therefore how could the EU know it wouldn't be negative and to not fund it?

Come on, are you really that surprised by the outcome of the study? I mean, how can a product made by a company that accounts for 95% of desktop operating systems NOT going to have a huge beneficial effect on the European software market?

The EU didn't fund this study because they didn't think of it, which is probably because they are spending more time figuring out negatives than doing a holistic analysis of what effects Microsoft has on software markets. When the information is thus skewed, therefore, it is left to the defendant to flesh out the other side...as Microsoft has done.

It also implies that groups would only fund studies whose outcome would support their agenda, and I see no reason why I should trust MS over the EU in that regard.

Groups are more likely to fund a study that promotes their point of view. That's why you need to look at BOTH SIDES of an issue.

Again, I'm no MS basher, but if some company funds something, I'm sure you'll either hear that it supports their point of view or you won't hear about it at all.

Granted, but when the study supports their point of view, it doesn't mean the study is wrong. A cure for cancer is a cure for cancer whether it comes from a guy working in his basement or from a guy working at Merck.
