Releasing is the same thing as determining the outcome because if the study were unfavorable and did not support Microsoft's attempts to bypass antitrust penulties it would have been filed in a dark room or shredded never to see the light of day.

Do you think IDC is in the business of making fake studies? If this study didn't go their way, Microsoft might not have released it, but it wouldn't have reduced the money Microsoft paid to fund it one jot...and they DID release it.

If you have reasons to oppose the methodology, that's one thing. Data is data, however.
