IDC is often Credible
I might question the author before I dismiss IDC. How many of us have seen reports where the conclusions just do not make sense given what is in the body of the report? Or headlines spinning exactly the opposite of what is reported. Lets analyse this news from the standpoint of poor legal advice at Microsoft instead.

"Mr. Neukom's trial battles with the DoJ were anything but successful: the company was found to be a monopoly, a ruling that was upheld by an appeals court, and Mr. Neukom oversaw the introduction of evidence and testimony that was faked, staged, and in some cases inaccurate. Mr. Neukom lost that case, but has showed his real strengths in his ability to negotiate the settlements. There he has shined, gaining Microsoft victory in the face of crushing defeat."

We are witnessing the European version of the American Antitrust cases. Microsoft's Smith has been proven himself to be Neukom's clone. He seeks introduce evidence and testimony that was faked, staged, and in some cases inaccurate.

I am hopeful that the bar association ethical guidelines allowing corportate lawyers to do this kind of thing do not exist in europe.
