EU does not like American Bar Association
Not only does the EU dislike Microsoft, they don't trust the US Justice system, in particular the American Bar Association. Just look at who is its President, it's not a pretty site. Bill Neukom, the man most responsible for Microsoft's legal strategy of wrong doing, the man that hire's Abramoff's friends while head counsel at Microsoft, and now chairs Abramoff's firm, Preston Gates and Ellis.

Bill Neukom and current Microsoft General Counsel Brad Smith worked together on antitrust matters. Smith was a partner at Covington & Burling. He is like Neukom's clone only he also studied international law and economics at the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva, Switzerland and has served as a lecturer at the Hague Academy of International Law.

Lets say you need an impartial and objective judge to resolve an antitrust matter. Do you think a judge who subscribes to the ethics of the Neukom headed ABA appropriate? It would be like assinging a judge from the formerly headed by Neukom Washington Bar Association on any matter involving a corporation.

WBA members are expected to give corporate lawyers the power of false witness and move to bar lawyers that complain. ABA members, under Neukom are expected to follow. This means consumers and employees are disadvantaged in disputes resolved within the state.
