- What idiot wrote this?

From the article: ?Apple's strategy of covering more and
more Mac software bases has led it to load more items into
the Mac OS--a type of "bundling" activity that has gotten
rival Microsoft into repeated trouble with regulators. But
Apple's tiny market share has insulated it from the same
type of attention.?
?"Since Apple's not under scrutiny for being a monopoly, it
can perpetrate behavior that's more egregious in that
respect (bundling) than Microsoft can," Kay said. While
Apple's behavior may be high-handed, there's little anyone
can do, he said. "Your customers may be annoyed, your
developer partners may be annoyed, but regulators certainly
aren't going to do anything."
These people are either total idiots or got a bug up their
behind about Apple.
Apple has bundled NOTHING extra into the OS. Zip ? Zero ?
Zilch.
Apple includes a number of applications with the computer
and/or with the OS. THEY ARE NOT PART OF THE OS NOR
ARE THEY INTEGRATED INTO THE OS.
On a new machine they?re all nicely placed in the
Applications folder. If you don?t want them, trash them.
They?re gone. If you buy just the OS, you can install any
included apps or not ? at your choosing.
I love the part where the clown, Kay, calls Apple?s behavior
?egregious?. Yep how dare they give me a free copy of
Quickbooks with my machine. Or Graphic Converter, Or
Internet Explorer. Yeah they?re third party apps but Mr Kay
seems to think it?s egregious that Apple would give them to
me Of course they also gave me iMovie, iTunes, iPhoto, etc.
ALL OF WHICH are just apps that can be trashed.
Mr. Kay does not seem to understand that free applications
are quite a bit different than ?integrated? apps that you?re
stuck with whether you want them or not. That or he?s just
throwing BS about Apple for his own purposes. - Posted by: j.m.galvin Posted on: 03/30/04 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
