Compulsory licensing
Wouldn't things have been more profitable to negotiate compulsory licensing based on usage? This would fairly compensate the artists and labels while putting a stop to wasting court resources on chasing people down and suing them? In the long run more money would be made as they would stop alienating thier customer base and save money for guys like iTunes who have to be shelling out a boatload for bandwith...

Just talking, I still don't support infringement, but I don't endorse these tactics either.
