I agree, 7 years is WAY to much time.
Why are the corporations insulated from responsibility while the individual is hung out to dry.
Why is spyware still legal? NO Corporation should be allowed to place ANYTHING on my equipment without my permission. Yet if we all don't use spyware removers, our computers will be rendered useless in less then 1 month. I am constantly helping out my neighbors, because their computers are either incerdibly slow, or are totally dead, except for banners and ads pokeing up continuously.
What happened to the fair use law that allowed a backup for archival purposes. Large music companies have forever been trying to make the cd uncopiable, even if the cd wont play on some equipment, or is degraded in quality. Same for the DVD. Why is it illegal to make one copy of a DVD as a backup. All the protections are for the large companies, and none are for the consumer. What does this have to do with a pirate? Everything. It's all politics. Large companies lobby our elected representatives for protective laws, while we, the average consumers have no voice in government looking out for our interests. Spyware and adware has probably cost every individual countless hours removing the crap when those hours should be devoted to productive work. Our personal property is being invaded illegally. Our personal information is taken illegally. I should be able to take some corporate executive to court and get a judgement of 7 years imprisonment for him for invasion of privacy and destruction of equipment.
