Well, I have been reading this thread for some time now and am shocked and angry as well. Yeah, I am Indian.I have grown up on Archie and Casper, Mickey and Spiderman.I have nothing but sympathy for those poor call centre people in India. But the venom being spewed here is sickening. We actually have an all-American Osama in the making who wants India to be nuked.I am reading thinly-veiled racial barbs about the accents of Indians who take/make calls. The way I look at it, YOU guys have accents. Your nasal drawl or your Cockney accent or whatever is prevalent in your country is an accent to me.And if you think grammar is such a big issue, I have come across enough Americans / Britishers who would make Shakespeare rotate at a very high rpm in his grave. Get real, people! I don't believe Indians are giving low quality service, because if they were, I do not think they would have survived for so long. It's that simple. India was historically one of the richest economies in the world, much before Europeans knew about civilization. We did not crib when Europeans came and killed us, destroyed local industries and turned India into a land of villages (We had thriving cities and universities at that time). Let me clarify that I (and most Indians) would not dream of doing something like that to any country. But why are you guys cribbing? This is the free market. We are trying to compete on a level playing field. Isn't that the basis of capitalist society? Or do the rules change when somebody (seemingly)better comes along? We are supposed to rot in Third World squalor so that you feel sorry for us (and, I believe, get sadistic pleasure). well, that's not gonna happen! We want to have a good, fulfilling trade relationship with the rest of the world. And we are going to compete. This was the basis on which America was built and the basis on which India and other countries tried to model themselves. It's a good thing the founding fathers of America are not around; they would not have been able to bear the shame of having such arrogant, cribbing children.
Yes, losing a job is tragic. But to hate Indians, to ridicule them and make racist comments about them is not going to help matters. You are just showing why the rest of the world loves the idea of America and hates the Americans.
