How much do they make from it? Nothing.
Not on the bits themselves--they're free. Where RH makes their money is in maintaining the bits for you--applying security updates and the like, making sure the constituent packages that make up the release work together and go on working together as updates are applied, etc. It mystifies me why you MS people don't seem to understand that concept.
