Now the one edge MS had (easy to use development tools) had been cloned using MS's own "innovation" strategy.
MS has a real problem now. Sun with a viable solution for the Visual Strudio crowd ... now how long is it gonna take em to develop a migtration toolkit to suck in the VB and C# apps and convert them to Java? That would be the obvious next step.
Java desktops kill the OS lock and make an open & portable platform for enterprise applications. Corporations see a lower cost of deployment and maintanence. Not only are costs lower but the architecture is more flexible and truly distributed by design ...
The last reason for Windows lock was Office, and thats quickly slipping away. Open Office works just fine as a replacement for Office 2000 and its predecessors. Office 2003, yeah, that's got an impressive take up rate!
Must make MS worried having the entrie industry aligned against them due to their business tactice (all money am ourz) and a lack of robust products to build on. - Posted by: oldskool Posted on: 03/29/04 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
