- VoIP is fine and good until...
- you dial 911 on your VoIP phone and your ISP is down AGAIN. Or what if your local police station is buried by a DDoS. Then what? The problem is that this technology isn't nearly as reliable as the "century old" telephone system. When lives are at risk, I want to be able to know that my call will go through. All the "bells & whistles" in the world don't mean squat if the basic functions don't work 100% of the time.
