I did have some issues
with ReiserFS about 4 years ago. I changed to ext3 for about a year while the Namesys folks ironed out the mess. But since then I haven't had a whit of trouble. I use the ReiserFS 4 on my laptop (which is used quite heavily as it is a work system) but I am on a stock Reieser 3.6 on all my clients systems as well as my own at home.

None of my clients have mentioned any issues and I haven't seen any at home either. It could be configuration of your partitions as well... hmmm what is your general partition scheme?

I use the following:

/ = ReiserFS
swap
/home = ReiserFS (Encrypted)
/PRIVATE = ReisderFS (Encrypted)

Seems to work pretty well. Keep in mind this is my desktop configuration.
