I want customization, not personalization!
Customization is when *I* can chose in which way to refine (or not) my search. For instance, searching Newsgroups for a name *in the "author" field*, or in the message field, on the whole web, or on the french speaking pages, or on the french (nationality) pages, etc.

Personalization is when *someone else* (Google for instance) makes those choices for me. For instance, when typing a ".com" URL I am redirected without asking me and without my permission, to a ".fr" site because a young webmaster has found clever to detect if people are connected in France and then do this.

When my grand-father wanted to read Macbeth in original version, he just went to the library and bought it. If he came back now in 2004, chances are when back home he would discover that the salespersons found clever to give him the french version (that he already owned), just because he was french and living in France!
