Rick_K, I think he is saying ...

Microsoft software is the best he's ever used. The problem is if you compare Windows software to say Unix software from say 15 years ago, Windows "looks" better than say Unix software. Therefore if it looks better, internally it has to be better, must be his conclusion.

I think a lot of folks who grew up on the Microsoft diet of Windows where you had to reboot every hour, XP is better ... but if you were me, and grew up on stable Unix, Mac, and mainframe software and then were subjected to the Windows 9x crap and even the more stable XP, you realize that it really isn't better than the stuff you were using already.

Although he said that "Microsoft has set itself the goal of correcting these flaws", really doesn't understand Microsoft. They will never correct flaws unless there is an identified security issue or it affects their main software. There are flaws in Word for example that still exist in version 2000 that existed in Version 4.
