careful, noAx, you could be speaking about yourself
I kind of agree with the guy who wrote before you, so there you are, I lined up to hear his words.

I do think however that whatever MrG talks about, he gets it wrong. Yep just about everything they ever talked about .Net, Tablet PCs etc etc.

I also disagree with your attitude that Microsoft has been driving the PC industry. If there hadn't been a Pentium 4 to run Windows XP on, XP would have been a disaster. If Windows didn't run on the latest CPUs, and Linux did, Linux would pull away very quickly.

In any case, Microsoft always always copies Apple. Oh yeah the Microsoft iPod and Microsoft iTunes. Yep that's innovation.

Don't get me wrong, WindowsXP is a reasonable platform, but so are OSX and Linux.
There were millions and millions of 8 bit Home computers around before the IBM PC was a sketch on a designers drawing pad. It is pure nonsense to presume the rapid development THAT WAS HAPPENING would not have continued if IBM or Microsoft had not been around. It would just have been someone else.

I think Mr G is wrong. The Internet consumer commerce world is not a bubble (the term "bubble" indicates overvalued), but a growing area. eBay, eBuyer, Amazon we love them all.
I even buy plane tickets online now. (hey why drive to town to pick them up, you can just get an internet confirmation number).
I bought my car online, my computer, my software, everything just about. (my wife also bought my clothes online).
Why? because competition is big and margins are tight. This is the space in which capitalism works best for us consumers.

(but fat, unhealthy corporate slugs watch out).
