Linux has its place.
In my organization we run Xp on the desktop. It was preloaded on all of the newer machines. We bought an upgrade license to bring the rest from 98 to Xp. When faced with upgrading the servers to windows 2003 it made more sense to go with linux file servers. They were more similar to an nt domain that a 2003 network would be. From a user standpoint they see no difference anyway. For our little office networks we didn't need all the bells and whistles that microsoft offers. To me it makes sense to use the simplest solution to do the job. In our case it was linux on the servers and windows on the desktop.
