Not always good business
Yes, I agree with your appraisal of AutoDesk's policy's, they are abysmal, and have been since they felt that they had the venue sewn up. Their attitude still harkens back to that of wanting a cut of any potential profits/income to be made by the use of their product, and their current policy is their best effort towards that end. I'm sure that as soon as they can figure out a way to link a financial siphon/debit to the specific individual productivity of their software, they will.

At least Guido doesn't come around every month to collect the payments. Yet.

I am somewhat surprised at how they have become so draconian over the past few years, they have always been greedy, but not like they have become. I know they have been this way with AutoDesk, but now they are the same way with Maya and 3ds Max. It seems that greed has a ravenous appetite, maybe it will become self-consuming.
