An article about redesigning Office is incomplete...
... unless it mentions Microsoft's research showing that 85% of the features people definitely wanted to add to Office were already there.

Despite the comments about reluctance to change, if people can make use of features they've wanted, they will approve of the new Office.


Also, I appreciated this comment:

"Hodgson also confirmed that Microsoft is working on tools to help enterprises automatically translate existing documents into new file formats being introduced in Office 2007."

This will this make available the many improvements requiring those formats (whatever they may be; Hi YBK).

Also, in a place like MA where users may be in a race against time to escape inadequate formats, blinding fast conversion to Microsoft formats may make any issues moot.
Giving people the freedom to make choices is one of Microsoft's promises to customers.
