10 years ago, I could not imagine the ability to organize documents on my computer filesystem and be able to do full-text searches for whatever I wanted. Instead, I shuffled through manilla folders and 8x10 documents to find something. The same goes for MP3 music, and who knows, in 10 years we may be storing and organizing our video collection on some sort of permanent storage device and accessing them instantly instead of manually loading the DVD. I believe that a lot of the power that a PC has to offer is in its ability to organize information, and provide quick access to that information when needed.
