For MS, It's Easy
Yes, first Bolt MSN-Search into IE. Bolt IE into every internet function. Bolt all network requests to IE. You don't even have to put in the quality. Just bolt everything in Windows to everything the user has to do and give the user no choice as to which application they could use. That's the Microsoft way. Most of their customers won't venture beyond what's offered. As a waiter, you could serve a tray of dirt and a typical Microsoft user would eat it instead of looking for real food.
