A couple of years is a long time
If Sun does not release "Open" Solaris under a GPL license, it will suffer the same fate as "Open" VMS.

You can't have it both ways, and people in IT are not stupid (at least not very.) Linux is succeeding not because it is technically better that proprietary OSs, but becuase it TRULY is open and belongs to no hardware vendor with an agenda.

With the exception of VMWare boxes, screaming hardware platforms are sitting idly, sucking up watts and emanating waves of heat.
