These tags are PASSIVE! That means they do not emit any sort of signal. Additionally they do contain any information about the product, or the buyer.
Thing of the tags as a wireless form of a BarCode. A simple numeric identifier to uniquely identify a product, or case of products, or pallet of cases.
The tags can only be read when placed in close proximity to an antenna/reader. They cannot be read from great distances. And reading a tag alone would give you no information about the item it was attached to.
Having the read the tag, and having the appropriate digital certification, a user could access a database that contains useful information about that product. That information will be heavily protected to insure it doesn't fall into the worng hands.
