Protections now, not after the fact
Strong personal protections need to be put in place before the proliferation of this technology.
Government actions usually come a day late and a dollar short. It's far easier to implement protections now than to try and implement them after the technology is in wide-spread use.

The use of RFID should be prohibited for the monitoring of individuals and RFID tags on merchandise should be deactivated at check-out by default. Violation of the protections should come with severe penalties.
