Linux users don't hate Windows Media Format
The vast majority don't really care about Microsoft's Media Format. But many sites use it, so being able to view the content is needed. It's not the best format, which many will point out, but it is popular. Also, the Helix player is not the RealPlayer you see on Windows which, in my opinion, sucks. I use RealAlternative on Windows to get around the Real Player, and VLC to play my video files instead of the junky Microsoft Media Player.
