If you want a guarantee then you must allow MS to define both the hardware platform, all drivers, all applications, etc..

To use the car analogy, they indeed offer the warranty, but ONLY when the vehicle is used in an approved manner. Take your new car to the race track, goodbye warranty. Drive 100 MPH and wreck it, it's not Ford's fault.

The same is true with a computer. It can be operated in a very secure manner, however if you choose to use it in some other way then you deal with the results.
