So according to your theory of law...
..If a Eruopean company is charged with something in the US, they should not be held accountable of fined?..

Of couse they would be held accountable, under the established law and appeal process.
What's different here is that the Eurocrats are making this stuff up as they go along (how many of you knew 5 years ago that bundling WMP was illegal?) but more importantly, thay want to dictate the rules for future MS OS development.
This is a precedent.
The argument then goes that the EU is trying to control the business practices of one US company over another (Real, Sun etc).

Maybe the US should look at that Airbus thing, make them use propellers instead, in the name of competition and protecting the US flying public from those fly-by-wire evil doers.

More politics in technology I say.
