MS is fighting a loosing battle here...
As much as I like watching the giant MS flail against its swifter and smaller opponent. I can't help but think this whole MS vs Linux/Open Source battle is but a mico example of what is happening to us right here in the good old US of A.

Like MS we in the United State have been king of the hill for many a year...generations in fact. Few if any of us remember the days when we had to struggle from dawn to dusk to ek out a living and to make things better for our children. So we have grown a bit fat and lazy. We expect better cause that is all we have known. Now we find ourselves in a Global Economy...where people are willing to work for far less than the average American in order to do what our great grandparents did..Make their childrens lives better. In many ways we are facing our younger, stronger, fitter, more determined selves of years gone buy.

The real horror of the change that is happening to us is that while our good jobs are going over seas. Many parts of our economy is slow to recognise the changes happen. So our drugs continue to far outpace inflation and in general our health care system and insurance industries are stripping away what little left we have. Our parent and grandparents who use to own their own homes and hoped to live off their savings are finding out all that they own is either now or soon will be the property of the Health Care system. Then what? we the generation that comes after our parents/grandparents will only inherit debt from them, and we will have little of value for Health Care to pick off our bones.

We are loosing good paying jobs, and our own industries are taking what little left we might have on the other end.
