I still don't buy that arguement. You are not forced to upgrade as long as your computers and software are still working. We still maintain systems for some of our clients that run on DOS 6.22 and 386 computers. They still work and the customer can't change because of the special application that runs on the machines. Once the requirement for that application is changed or goes away, then they will have the option to buy whatever they wish. No one will force them to buy windows, the choice will be theirs.

The only time you have to change is when your software or computer no longer works and you can not get a replacement or new software. So if the person or company don't want the new OS with the "bolt on's" all they have to do is not change. If they do then they have made the decision to again buy windows and they can get around that by buying from a company that will allow them to have whatever OS or no OS if that is their desire. So they may not get a big nane computer but they will get one that is configured the way they want it, with what they want on it.
