re: questions and answers:
Who wants to buy a version of Windows that is less capable than what is available, and can lead to costly compatibility headaches?
- who is asking ms to produce that? in fact the ruling specifically stated they are reuired to make a version just as capable, just not illegally tied.

The EC’s remedy of having MS produce a version of Windows without a Media Player will lead to:
less value for consumers;

- how exactly does having an option to remove WMP give less value? it's nto liek it's being taken away completly.

greater expense in time, money, and confusion regarding what consumers need to ensure all Windows applications work with their OSs;
- again how? many apps already say you need WMp (what ever version) or DirectX (what ever version), etal. It changes nothing.

greater expense to OEMs handling calls by purchasers who are surprised to find out that the version of Windows without Media Player they bought does not behave the way they expected;

- simple.. tell them to go to the control panel and add windows features and put it back on, if they are running a program that needs it. also, no part of this agreement i read says that OEMs must use the no-wmp version. they are better off using the wmp version and just letting the more technical users who wish, it the ability to remove the thing... win/win.

more headaches for developers who have to field support calls explaining why their application does not work with the version of Windows that does not have Media Player; etc.
- oh right, apps now days don't already install the needed libs. there doesnt' exist any applications which ship with directX... or heck, Acrobat Reader that will tell you you also need to install this and to click a button to make it happen.
