You mean that "you hope"

The fine is absurd and out of line. The court of first Instance has a long record of reducing those fines to much smaller values. The EU decision is akin to the DOJ and states filing their case. The court of First Instance is the first court to weigh evidence and apply laws and there are appeal levels beyond that.

Microsoft does not want to pay the money, to be sure, but the rest of the decision is a laugher. In a few years no one will want a Windows without the WMP APIs. No own wants one now. The only version that the OEM would accept is the full function version.

Who wants to foot note their trade advertisements with *does not include Windows WMP but rather some cheesy substitute. Warning: Your software may not work in this machine"?

For server interconnectivity with Windows, disclosing the interfaces so that others can follow is equally silly. That gives Microsoft a license to start jiggling Windows around just to watch the other guys dance trying to keep up. What, specifically, does Windows need now that linux or other unix servers cannot provide in way of connectivity. Or even Novell for that matter? This is a straw man from 1998 that has no real meaning.
