subscription silliness
This is pure silliness. Doesn't make good business sense for businesses or consumers. What happens if the economy turns bad and you can't afford to pay your subscription - do you lose access to your data and thereby do even more damage to your business? What happens if they release a new version - are you forced to upgrade and deal with incompatibilities and user interface changes at a time when it might not be convenient? What if the company goes out of business - are you forced to change to some other product? What if you have no Internet access when you need to reinstall all your applications? How does a business with hundreds of PCs manage the dozens of programs on each PC - each wanting some type of communication back to their vendor?

No, I will not pay rent on my software.
