The CDROM issue was a LG problem. "The problem was that the kernel would send a FLUSH_CACHE command to the LG CD-ROM drive which would destroy the drive. This is because LG CD-ROM drives are not compliant with the ATAPI specification."
And it was mainly a Mandrake issue.
I can't quote on the Lindows problem but if your information is as reliable as the CDROM issue then i'll dismiss it.
I can watch DVDs etc quite happily on Suse Linux
