Interesting.
I've not caught a whiff of a market for FrameMaker on any platform. Can't think of a single shop that has or uses FrameMaker (and I know the equipment setups of about 20 magazines, 12 newspapers, about 100 print shops and maybe a few dozen ad agencies and design studios). Adobe has been clearly stating for the past 4 years or so that it wants the entire planet to switch to InDesign. The only interesting news I've heard about Framemaker in the last dozen years: 2 years ago Adobe had a freely downloadable Linux version of the product (now discontinued). Even the venerable PageMaker is getting left in the dust. Frankly speaking, I could probably root out more folks still using the ancient 1988-era Itek TOS-5 (on proprietary Itek typesetting systems like the DigItek) than Framemaker. The Framemaker market must be for folks still on legacy Sun Sparcstations and Iris Indigos, and there's not a whole lot of those folks left. Despite talking to perhaps 2 or 3 thousand Mac users (through work and professional associations, users groups and such) over close to 20 years, I've never met a single Mac user who had or used FrameMaker. To tell you the truth, it comes as news to me that a Mac version was even available.

I'd love to hear from anybody who's currently using FrameMaker, what equipment environment they're using it in and what sort of jobs they're using it for.
