If I, an adult, hit someone, I deserve to go to prison. If a 5 year old hits another 5-year old, you don't send him to prison.

The main thing the RIAA accomplished, which was their intent, was to let everyone know they meant business. The other thing they did was to unnecessarily traumatize a child.
