You missed the point.
This article is completely missing the point. The animators want a system that doesn't suck. It's that easy - the hurdle is to make it not suck. It's true, animators are turning away from motion capture, but not because of the fact that they don't want to make photo-real characters. That's a ridiculous conclusion. The hurdle is not "whether animators truly want photo real humans", but rather if Contour can easily give them photo-real humans. Animators certainly want photo-real humans, it's just that they can't get them because it requires so much effort to get a decent result using the current methods.

All Contour needs to do is give an animator the ability to create realistic human movement at a reasonable cost AND in a reasonable amount of time. This article is making the challenge seem more complicated than it actually is.

Also, it can be done, just not fast/cheap enough yet. Take a look at the lastest "Pirates" movie. The CG characters in that are amazing. I hope Contour can help people get there.
