Although I will say that minor upgrades over yearly or bi-annually releases would be much better than complete overhauls every 5 or 6 years. How much of software will or will not work with Vista? How many drivers will have to be re-written? How many new bugs occur when you do a total overhaul?

Windows Vista should have been spread out over about 3 or 4 releases minimum. They could have focused on one or two particular major items each time. Instead the programmers for applications have to gut their apps all at once and rebuild them pretty much from scratch to get them up to par.
