Stallman's mistake
is that he somehow thinks the world wants everything to be open.

I think you profoundly overestimate Richard Stallman's concern for what "the world" wants. In fact, I really doubt that he cares in the least.

RMS has his own idea of what is right and what is wrong, and like all of the great moral leaders [1] of history people either follow him or not -- he doesn't run polls.

[1] Don't mistake this for admiration. I count Lenin, Stalin, and Hitler in the category right along with Elijah, Churchill, and Roosevelt. It's the style I'm discussing, not the content.
