I think you underestimate the HOME user...
The computer is no longer the boogy man that it once was. Home users now have a long history of computer use under their collective belts starting from the Apple II line, The DOS day, CPM, Adam, Atarie, and Commodore Vic20 all the way up to the Amiga.

Home users have been around for 30years or more now, and during those 30 years more and more people in our school systems and colleges have been introduced to computers, not to mention all those at work. After struggling first with DOS then Windows 3.1 into the Windows 9X years and now Windows XP. I think home users can tackle Linux with not all that much trouble. Also consider that with each passing generation...Linux does get more "User Friendly"
