Not quite that simple

Three- and four-letter domain names (plus .ws and .us) are all registered to US registry companies, so in theory they should operate under US laws. There are some issues with using print standards for websites, but using such standards goes against the stated desire for a voluntary system.

For anyone who thinks this will solve mis-typed URL issues, the Internet has plenty of .com addresses that do nothing but re-direct the browser.

If other countries wish to set up mandatory systems, they can set up .xxx.uk and .xxx.de and so on to their hearts' content.
