Linux is the OS of choice for large internet companies. Ok, BSD is good too
And, Linux is only free to those that can set it up and support it themselves. There are great support options from RedHat, Novel, Ubuntu, Mandriva, etc. Paid support for Linux is better than Windows since if you don't like the support you can change.

And, it is with WINDOWS that you are stuck with your decision with no easy exit strategy if that puppy gets sick. With Linux, you can move to other Linux vendors, BSD, or Unix. But, your Linux/BSD/Unix puppy is a lot less likely to get sick as viruses are about 100x more likely with Windows server which is bloated, bug ridden and unsecure.

Wake up and smell the coffee.
