You're absolutely right
My bank runs windows, the hospital where my wife is head doctor runs windows, the power station does, so does the railway, the airport and even the company where I work as IT manager.

BUT... they all have in common that they don't use it in areas where failures are serious. My bank accounts are stored on an IBM maniframe, running IBM database, and any server work is Linux inside that mainframe. At the hospital windows is used for writing journals and letters . and actually it is phased out for something much smarter. Same picture everywhere: where failures mean big loss of money, danger to environment, personel or equipment. I have to disapoint you - Microsoft warns about using Windows in critical areas.

We were a windows-only shop 3 years ago. Now everythimg business critical has been moved to Unix, Linux or IBM systems. Microsoft will NEVER produce a secure stable OS that doesn't need to be patched for severe errors constantly. We've had it, and it is pathetic to hear claims that enterprise search 'belongs' to MS. We did enterprise search with Lotus Domino in 1999, and MS is absolutely NOWHERE in that area. Also in that area...

Reason they are so scared of Google is that Google draws all the smart brains now, and they are ready to hit MS where it hurts - the officesuite.
