Microsoft is the joke
Microsoft is the joke on their own statements. They barely have
their foot in the door on "enterprise" computing (in the server
room). They've never been allowed in MY server rooms (nor will
they for obvious security and/or stability issues). They made the
desktop and even there they've really never been anything much
more than a continuous problem. Office has come and gone --
with all the virus' and trojans with Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
the choice to switch to OpenOffice was, well, easy.

Linux will continue in taking over the server room (it was all
Netware and/or "Unix" at one point) -- and with Novell's Suse
(Linux) the possibility to take the desktops is coming of age on
the Wintel type boxes. I myself would prefer Apple's OS X (Intel)
and just sandbox those last dangling Windows apps (AutoCAD
and Accounting). Either way it will be a Un*x on the users
desktop just as it is now for me and certainly in the server room
(not to mention Google's server farms).

Enterprise computing and Windows in the same sentence is
almost laughable. Where IS Microsoft on the top 500 list?

And frankly -- I don't TRUST Microsoft. I trust Google. Google
wins.
