Vote for whoever you like, but voting for Kerry isn't going to solve the problem. He voted for all the free trade agreements that are now in effect. He can complain all he likes about the outsourcing that's happening, but the truth is he voted for the systems that make it easier to do it.

Something he could try, that would be different, would be to give tax incentives for companies to hire here. That might help some. It won't stop the trend of outsourcing altogether, because some of it is strategic, not just due to cost differences.

I really doubt Kerry would slam on the brakes for outsourcing, because the "free trade" regime that's been put in place is there partly for foreign policy reasons. One of his main issues is making nice with our traditional allies and foreign countries around the world. Shutting down outsourcing would immediately sour relations between the U.S. and other countries around the world. So I doubt he'd do anything to block it. And he can talk all he likes about putting environmental and labor standards in the existing trade agreements, but I doubt that idea is going to go anywhere. Foreign countries would respond, "Okay, fine. We'll do some of that, but first you've got to do away with all of your agricultural subsidies before we budge an inch." Boy, that'll go over well with Kerry's constituency...

At least the Bush Administration is being honest about its position. They could be a bit more proactive than they're being, admittedly, but I don't think Kerry would be much of an improvement in this area, because the alternatives are worse than what's going on now. Just my 2 cents.

Outsourcing is a hot-button political issue and I think that's the reason Kerry's using it in his campaign. He's not nearly as protectionist as he sounds though.
