Happy to oblige
"I mean just tell us what they did and exactly which law (er, rule) they broke and how they broke it. "

It is very easy - you even have the same rule in the good ol' U.S. of A. The rule is this - When you lose a court case, do what the Judge tells you or face the consequences.

That's it. Now if a simple chap like me can understand it, surely all those geniuses at Microsoft with teams of the world's smartest lawyers can figure it out.....

Just in case you've no memory or can't read the copious articles that exist, here is a refresher for you.

1. Microsoft was judged to have behaved in a way that meant its competition was unfairly disadvantaged (note: your U.S. courts came to the same conclusion)

2. They were told to do certain things such as documenting interfaces to their servers

3. The documentation was late

4. The documentation was judged (by outsiders) to be rubbish.

5. Because they had disobeyed the previous order (known as "contempt of court" - another thing that you have in the U.S.A.) they got whacked with a big fine.

6. Brussels isn't Washington. Microsoft's lobby groups don't pay for EU politician's election campaigns so their influence is a lot less
